Addie Update

Addie, Addie...I have to brag on her a little bit.  She surprises us every single day.  Not only has she begun to ask me "Why?" and expect a valid answer, her appetite has increased, her vocabulary is amazing, and she can count from 1-6 and once from 6-11.  Don't ask me who taught her to go past ten.  Addie also loves to sing and tries so hard to sing her ABC's.

Addie takes a great nap everyday and sleeps all night.  She used to use the "potty" on occasions but has decided the diaper is the way to go for now.  She loves to color and always wants to go go go.  Corn is her favorite food this week, and she loves to snack on poptarts.  She can use her swimmie floats in the pool and doggy paddle all alone.  She works so hard to keep her mouth closed.

Addie knows a few colors, but when you ask her "what color is this?" she will just shout out whatever color is on her mind without even looking at the object.  If you can get her to focus, she probably gets it right 50% of the time.

Reading is still a favorite pastime, but she likes to flip through the books more and more on her own.

She shocked me today.  It was almost time for her nap, so I took her to her room to change her diaper.  I asked her if she wanted to sleep on her Dora bed (a chair that folds out into a little bed) and she said No.  She curled up on it anyway,  and I covered her up not expecting her to stay put, and would you believe she is still there as we speak??  She may never do it again, but if she does, this would be the easiest transition ever!  She might just take naps on it and transition to her big girl bed later ( at least long enough for me to sand and paint her new bed).  So proud of her!

She is changing so much!  Thanks for reading!!

Saturday's

Today was a work day for Brad.  He and a man from our church worked on our house, and a very small project turned into a semi-major one.  We had some rotten wood that needed replacing - no big deal right?  Then we discovered there was no installation over the laundry room and more and more work to be done.  I'm sure things could be a lot worse, but it's all getting handled.

Addie and I had to relocate for her nap time because of all the banging.  She did okay but woke up after only 45 minutes - I think the phone rang.  So typical...

We went to eat with some friends tonight at a local catfish joint.  Too bad we are on the detox diet this week, but we did tear up some lemon pepper catfish.  And that was about all we ate.  It was nice being with our friends, and Addie got to have her first sucker.  We may be terrible for not giving her one sooner, but I like avoiding messes when possible.  And isn't there a choking hazard too??

I'm not sure why I felt the need to post all of this, but other people are so good at blogging and sharing what is going on in their lives.

We have church tomorrow and will be teaching the high school group of kids.  My lesson is on marriage and how it reflects Christ, and Brad is teaching on LOVE.  We love our kids so much!

Hope everyone has a good night!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Wow!  What a month!  Sorry my last update was so long ago.  Addie is doing well.  She talks constantly and amazes me with all the words she can say.  She plays and plays and always wants me to play with her.

I went to the World's Longest Yard Sale last week.  A group of us from MS joined my mom, Brad's mom, and my nephew in Fort Payne, Alabama.  We stayed two nights in my home-away-from-home (the Hampton Inn) and enjoyed yard-saling for two days straight.  I couldn't have had any more fun than I did.  I will post some pictures later of all the deals I found.  During my stay, I got to see some old friends, Alice, the Strickland's, and the Chamber's.  Thanks for taking the time to eat with me!!!

Addie is really enjoying her "new" things from the sale.  She got a new table and chairs ($1) to color on which is her new favorite past time.  She got a Dora Dollhouse ($10) and lots of fun accessories ($0.50).  She even got a Boots (Dora's sidekick).  We were quite proud of her new Alpha Omega Car Seat that will let her lean back in the car ($15).  I hope this will make long trips a lot better!  Addie got a toddler bed ($15) that needs painting and I don't see her moving into it anytime soon.  I also got Addie a Learning Tower ($8).  It is a little hard to explain, but she can climb into it and be at counter height and maybe help me cook.  I got a cute, vintage Auburn shirt ($1), and Brad's mom bought him a cute end table.  How did we live so long without an end table?
