Addie Update

Addie, Addie...I have to brag on her a little bit.  She surprises us every single day.  Not only has she begun to ask me "Why?" and expect a valid answer, her appetite has increased, her vocabulary is amazing, and she can count from 1-6 and once from 6-11.  Don't ask me who taught her to go past ten.  Addie also loves to sing and tries so hard to sing her ABC's.

Addie takes a great nap everyday and sleeps all night.  She used to use the "potty" on occasions but has decided the diaper is the way to go for now.  She loves to color and always wants to go go go.  Corn is her favorite food this week, and she loves to snack on poptarts.  She can use her swimmie floats in the pool and doggy paddle all alone.  She works so hard to keep her mouth closed.

Addie knows a few colors, but when you ask her "what color is this?" she will just shout out whatever color is on her mind without even looking at the object.  If you can get her to focus, she probably gets it right 50% of the time.

Reading is still a favorite pastime, but she likes to flip through the books more and more on her own.

She shocked me today.  It was almost time for her nap, so I took her to her room to change her diaper.  I asked her if she wanted to sleep on her Dora bed (a chair that folds out into a little bed) and she said No.  She curled up on it anyway,  and I covered her up not expecting her to stay put, and would you believe she is still there as we speak??  She may never do it again, but if she does, this would be the easiest transition ever!  She might just take naps on it and transition to her big girl bed later ( at least long enough for me to sand and paint her new bed).  So proud of her!

She is changing so much!  Thanks for reading!!

Saturday's

Today was a work day for Brad.  He and a man from our church worked on our house, and a very small project turned into a semi-major one.  We had some rotten wood that needed replacing - no big deal right?  Then we discovered there was no installation over the laundry room and more and more work to be done.  I'm sure things could be a lot worse, but it's all getting handled.

Addie and I had to relocate for her nap time because of all the banging.  She did okay but woke up after only 45 minutes - I think the phone rang.  So typical...

We went to eat with some friends tonight at a local catfish joint.  Too bad we are on the detox diet this week, but we did tear up some lemon pepper catfish.  And that was about all we ate.  It was nice being with our friends, and Addie got to have her first sucker.  We may be terrible for not giving her one sooner, but I like avoiding messes when possible.  And isn't there a choking hazard too??

I'm not sure why I felt the need to post all of this, but other people are so good at blogging and sharing what is going on in their lives.

We have church tomorrow and will be teaching the high school group of kids.  My lesson is on marriage and how it reflects Christ, and Brad is teaching on LOVE.  We love our kids so much!

Hope everyone has a good night!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Wow!  What a month!  Sorry my last update was so long ago.  Addie is doing well.  She talks constantly and amazes me with all the words she can say.  She plays and plays and always wants me to play with her.

I went to the World's Longest Yard Sale last week.  A group of us from MS joined my mom, Brad's mom, and my nephew in Fort Payne, Alabama.  We stayed two nights in my home-away-from-home (the Hampton Inn) and enjoyed yard-saling for two days straight.  I couldn't have had any more fun than I did.  I will post some pictures later of all the deals I found.  During my stay, I got to see some old friends, Alice, the Strickland's, and the Chamber's.  Thanks for taking the time to eat with me!!!

Addie is really enjoying her "new" things from the sale.  She got a new table and chairs ($1) to color on which is her new favorite past time.  She got a Dora Dollhouse ($10) and lots of fun accessories ($0.50).  She even got a Boots (Dora's sidekick).  We were quite proud of her new Alpha Omega Car Seat that will let her lean back in the car ($15).  I hope this will make long trips a lot better!  Addie got a toddler bed ($15) that needs painting and I don't see her moving into it anytime soon.  I also got Addie a Learning Tower ($8).  It is a little hard to explain, but she can climb into it and be at counter height and maybe help me cook.  I got a cute, vintage Auburn shirt ($1), and Brad's mom bought him a cute end table.  How did we live so long without an end table?

Fourth of July

We had a great fourth of July!  We went to Lake Martin first to be with Brad's parents, and then we travelled to south Alabama to be with my family.  We rode the boat in both places, ate watermelon and homemade ice cream (not together), and watched fireworks.  Addie was a pretty good sport when it came to wearing her lifejacket, and she even took a good nap in the camper.  Thanks to everyone for a wonderful weekend!!

Summertime!

Little Miss Personality was showing out, and she was caught on film, or on memory card I guess I should say.  We have had a busy summer, but it has been great so far.  Hope everyone is enjoying their summers and making the best out of the humidity.

SLIDE

I hope these come out in order.  Addie enjoyed the slide at our church picnic.  She LOVED it and was a true daredevil.  She was not scared one bit and was climbing up it by the end of the night.  She cried when we had to leave.  Her legs were so sweaty that she would stick half way down and just flip over, but she didn't seem to mind.

VBS

Sorry I haven't posted in so long - story of my life.  I couldn't let anymore time pass before I showed you my VBS room.  Because of Brad's accessories, we had the BEST room ever!  It was a camp theme obviously, and I taught First Grade along with my trusty sidekick, Stephanie!  We had a great week praising JESUS!

Before and After

Before and after!  My mom found this shelf/bench at a yard sale for $3.00 - what a find!!  I doctored it up a little bit and now it is yellow and matches Addie's room.  It holds her books and she loves it!  Yay for projects!

PonyTail

I finally got Addie to let me put her hair in a pony tail!  Her hair is getting so long in the back, but she is not very willing to let me play with her hair, so I have to be slick.  She however, likes to play with Mommy's hair which if you know me, you know that is my most favorite thing.

Boots

Addie always helps Daddy pick out his clothes and shoes for the day, and she chose his boots this day - only they were for her to wear.  She makes us laugh so many times a day.  What a stinker!

Cousins

Addie and cousin Jack posed for a picture with Daddy (Uncle Brad).  He was spinning them around outside when I snapped a photo, so they probably saw two of me and felt a little dizzy.  :)

Happy Birthday Alyssa!

During our last visit home, we got to celebrate with Alyssa on her 8th birthday!!  I cannot believe she is already 8!  She got a Wii Fit for her birthday and during one of the running competitions, Addie decided to join in and started running with the "big kids."  It was so funny!  She has developed quite the little personality over the last week or so.

Greenwood, MS

Around our town are a few picturesque scenes I finally got to capture the other day.  The bridge is right outside of Brad's office and crosses over the Yazoo River.  It's is lit up with Christmas lights for almost 6 months out of the year and is really beautiful.  Just thought I'd share...

Trash or Treasure

Look what I did today!!  I found this playhouse on the side of the road and with some help from a friend, it became ours.  It was so nasty, I couldn't believe I even considered letting my child play in it, but in between thunderstorms, I was able to clean it up and make it shine!  If Addie doesn't like it I can always sell it in a YARD SALE!!  My parents and Brad's parents will be so proud of me!  Always keep your eyes open for deals on the side of the road.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to me!  Addie gave me a beautiful corsage to wear to church (thanks Carla) and some new sunglasses to replace the ones she broke (thanks Brad).  This picture also showcases my new "do."

Tux Pictures

Could these two get an cuter??  We enjoyed going to Mobile for our friend's wedding and having Brad in a tux was a great photo opportunity.  Enjoy the pictures!!

Easter WEEKEND

Here are some late Easter pictures.  Addie is learning how to say "cheese" for the camera.  Thanks to Honey for smocking her beautiful dress!!  Please notice the hair standing on ends...like mother, like daughter.

May 11, 2009

Enjoy the new look of our blog!  I have to give a shout out to Stephanie who pushed me in the right direction.  I will attempt to do my own template and code work one day but for now, I think the picture and the background work!  ENJOY!

Springtime

Happy Spring!  We are loving the weather these days and all the green of creation is BEAUTIFUL!!  Addie is growing like a weed and talking all the time.  She is saying lots of names and can always tell you what she wants (not always a good thing to hear over and over).  She is still on a regular diet of broccoli and mac'n'cheese.  She loves cake or "dake" as she calls it and helped Daddy finish his birthday cake last week.  Addie is quite the entertainer and loves to dance and race around the room.  Reading books is by far her most favorite past time and we read ALL DAY LONG.  Hope everyone is able to enjoy Springtime!  Hope to see the family soon.

EASTER WEEKEND

What a fun day we had!  Addie enjoyed her first egg hunt and actually "found" 6 eggs (one was given to her to be honest).  She enjoyed looking for the "balls" even though it was in the 50's.  It was so cold outside!  Here is a picture with her best buds too.  From Left - Jensen, Owen, Charlie, Addie, and Andrew.  The only thing missing is Miss Thelma who keeps these little ones in the nursery several times a week.  Happy Easter to everyone!  He is RISEN!  He is RISEN!

Lake Fun

During our trip to south Alabama, we also enjoyed Gantt Lake and a little boat ride.  Addie was not going anywhere with that big lifejacket on.  She needs a little more neck to be able to wear it comfortably.

A Day at the Beach

During the last week of March, Addie and I spent some time in south Alabama, and we were able to go to Destin for a day with my family.  We enjoyed the sand and sun for about 15 minutes.  :)  Why?  You may ask.  IT WAS COLD!!  Addie had to wear her hat, but we still got a few cute pictures of her first beach experience.
